Feeling that he could easily wind up the janitor after the race, Jack goes to nearby Santa Monica beach and lifting his head to the overhanging clouds calls out to God for help. Much to his surprise, God answers. He gives Jack Belson a manual of life, the seven absolutes of the Kybalion – Mentalism, Correspondence, Polarity, Vibrations, Rhythm, Cause and Effect and Gender. The answer is not exactly to Jacks liking but it does change his life. Inspired, he decides to get in shape for the great race. He meets Maggie Oliver, proprietor of Run for Your Life, a joggers shop located in Venice Beach and soon fall madly in love.

Las Vegas gamblers, on a lark, hear about the race and decide to get involved.

Larry Sapper, in order to insure that his choice wins, adjusts the steps on one of the bridges so that they will flatten into a wall when he uses a remote control device, thereby tripping whoever reaches one of the bridges. The climax is of course the race itself.

The entire novel, humorous and entertaining as it may be is actually a metaphor for the utilization of the principles of the Kybalion. An esoteric slim novel written more than a hundred years ago but more popular today than ever before with millions of enthusiastic supporters. Many of the mysteries of the Kybalion and how to use the 7 principles are clarified as Jack Belson grows from an average, mediocre, shy man to a confident, knowledgeable, assertive person ready to take on and solve all his past problems.

Definately Disney

As a true Disney fan I can highly recommend this book, but only to a certain set of people. Leonard Maltin's book The Disney Films is truely nothing more than a list of all of the films ever made by the Disney Company. Each one has a summary and credits. There is also a preface discussing Walt's life. Although it will a be valuable resource to my already exsisting Disney library I would not recommed it to any first timers. There are no color pictures which was a huge disapointment to me. However, it does deal with many little know films and gives great insight to each one, no matter how minor. I prefer reading about the animated films more than live-action. This book gave equal time to both types, which could be a plus to some. There is no doubt that for the price is a great deal, but I would advise to get John Grant's Encyclopedia of Walt Disney's Animated Characters (which is so much more than the title implies) and Steven Watts' The Magic Kingdom: Walt Disney and the American Way of Life before this one. These are both incredible books that would serve anyone well. Especially the hardcore Disney fanatic.

I like the book very much because all the Disney films are mentioned. I am still busy reading it and I find everytime new things. Also you can read how the film was received during release and re-releases. The first part of the book is very detailed of every movie until Disney's death. Every movie is a chapter. Than the writer starts to make a chapter per period. Also the Disneyclub TV series, Disney shorts and Disney TV-cartoons are in there. I think that Leonard Maltin should write seperate books about the Disney shorts and the Disney TV-cartoons.

In this book about the film and tv work of one of animation history's most famous showmen.Leonard Maltin takes us thru the creation,development and the successes of Mr.Walt Disney and his most famous films and tv series.Using in depth research,interviews with many of Mr.Disney's staffers,cast,crew members,members of his family,friends and fellow film/tv historians.Mr.Maltin takes us thru the creation of "Mickey Mouse","Donald Duck","Snow White","Pinocchio","Peter Pan"and the rest of Mr.Disney's cast of cartoon characters and he shows us the development of his live action films.He also gives us a behind the scenes look at the creation of his tv series:"Disneyland!"/"Walt Disney Presents!"for ABC TV(Which he also served as producer and host/narrator) and why Mr.Disney left ABC TV to create,produce and host one of NBC TV's most popular family anthology shows:"The Wonderful World Of Color".
He also gives some insight into the man's life and his approach to giving joy to others.Maltin also shows us how the studio and theme parks were able to survive following Mr.Disney's untimely death in 1966 and the studio's and theme parks'future under the guidence(or lack of guidence)by Mr.Mike Einser and Mr.Roy Disney Jr.
The book is also filled with beautiful photos and illustrations and a complete listing of the production co.'s films and tv series.
For anyone..who enjoys the work of Walt Disney..or for anyone..who may not be a Disney fan(There are some Disney films:Live Action and Animated that I'm still not crazy about)."The Disney Films"will show you another side to the genius of Walter E.Disney! Bravo Lenny! Kevin S.Butler.

Need an inspirational, easy to read, digestable bit of juicy daily insight wrapped into brilliance? This is YOUR book. If you don't have time to read the book from finish to end, just take it in small pieces, at your will. If you get absorbed in it and read it from end to end, you'll probably want to read it over and over again. I can say this from personal experience! This is a must-own book for your night stand. The content and organization of this book is excellent. However, I have one complaint about the Kindle app - when I use the PC version of Kindle, the Table of Content and Index are clickable, taking you directly to that page. Unfortunately, this function does not work on the Android version of Kindle. You either have to use the scrolling page list, or open the side menu to use "Go to (page)". Another pet peeve is that, after zooming the text does not re-flow and line-wrap (start a new line when it is full after re-flow), meaning you have to drag and move the page back and forth to read the whole line.

I adore the Oxford Handbook and as a hospital doctor, I have purchased many of their publications that are pocket guides and extremely useful in the daily clinical practice with updated guidelines and drug doses. The specific, OHCM, is an amazing pocket medical handbook that is one of the best and I strongly suggest it to all doctors, irrespectively their medical specialty, as it offers updated general clinical information that I think that ALL doctors need. For example, I am working at the hematology dept. until summer, but I always see the patients holistically (as a whole) and examine not just the blood system, but I always correlate​ signs, symptoms, lab & image tests generally to all systems of the body, e.g. an anemia may be caused by an MDS or an iron deficiency because of bowel cancer; a low WCC may be related to immunodeficiency; low platelets may be related to SLE or RA; a skin lesion may indicate a T cell lymphoma etc; an increased ESR may indicate solid cancer or multiple myeloma etc.

Congratulations from their record producer

I was one of the several record producers to be blessed with an opportunity to work with certain members of the Stoneman family and fortunate to have written and produced what is currently being hailed as possibly their finest album ever recorded. Originally recorded in 1978, I have just now released it for commercial sales to the public. It is titled: The Stonemans-Country Hospitality, and is currently enjoying good sales over Amazon.com's music site. It is a rare recording from an exceptional and legendary musical family. When I first received this book of their life story I sat down and read it without stopping. I discovered at once how little I knew of this family I had worked so closely with. It is a gripping story of the struggles they endured and obstacles they overcame in order to pursue their love for music and survive as a family in the process. Dr. Ivan Tribe has done an outstanding job chronicling their life history and has performed a service for us lovers of bluegrass and traditional mountain music which will place us forever in his debt. I am proud to have my album listed in the discography of this wonderful book.

This is a great family story and the book gives their history. Great entertainers at a time when money was short and travel was hard.
