Past Time explores these questions and many others, as the author—a jaded journalist, a lifelong football player, and a burned-out coach—spends a year immersed in the late 1970s, in hopes of rekindling his love for the game. About the Author
Ted Kluck is the award-winning author of a dozen books. He has played professional indoor football, coached high school football, trained as a professional wrestler, served as a missionary, and taught writing courses at the college level. Ted’s work has appeared in ESPN the Magazine, Sports Spectrum Magazine, and ESPN.com Page 2. A bi-monthly column for Sports Spectrum Magazine entitled “Pro and Con” won the Evangelical Press Association award for best standing column in 2003. He lives in Grand Ledge, Michigan, with his wife and two sons.

Living in the Past

As lifelong football fans, we sometimes find ourselves pining for what we consider to be, the good-old days. Kluck has found a way to relive the experience of 1970s football by competing with others in something called the Odyssey Football League, an online simulation league where players are drafted from a certain year, teams are built and games are played against other teams that are put together the same way. In this case, Kluck and the other members of the OFL replayed the 1978 NFL season using actual players from that year.

I like I'd so much, I joined the league!

Ted has a very engaging writing style. The book is an extremely entertaining look at not only football, but society.mmits funny,witty, nostalgic, readable, and it has a lot of football in it. What else could you want?! And yes, I looked into the OFL (Odyssey Football League) after reading Ted's book, found that they had an opening, and joined. Go Grizzlies!

Great book on football from the perspective of someone who played on high school, college and professional levels. The writer comments on the NFL from the 70's up until modern times and relates football to the games fans play today. An insightful and entertaining read.
