It's definitely more than lies.......

Unique Friendship from beginning of childhood through adulthood. Taralynn desires the one man she can't have. He can 't deal with accepting the man he is, and believing he is good enough. The author takes you on an emotional journey of love, loss, and desire. The supporting characters keep the reader intrigued through the relationships taking place in this book. If you can't deal with tattoos, non- committed sex, partying, this book is not for you. Book is a standalone. Great book, the reader will not be disappointed.

MUST READ!!!!

I honestly don't even know where to begin with this review. Ok, now onto this book....Shawn and Taralynn have known each other practically their whole lives. Their brothers are best friends so in turn they are friends. Taralynn wants much more than just friends with Shawn, but he just won't give in and making her feel like he doesn't want her as anything more than a friend. However, Shawn does want Taralynn he just doesn't think he is good enough for her. STOP RIGHT THERE....this is where I wanted to strangle him. Like reach into the book and strangle him. I really loved Shawn from the get go although there were many points I wanted to not just strangle him, but throttle him as well. This book had me hot one minute, mad the next, and bawling my eyes out next. Ms. Henderson has a way of pulling you in and holding on so tight. I truly felt like I didn't breathe until the very end. It was a rollercoaster of emotions. I recommend this book and any book this author publishes. She is one of my MUST READS!!! A copy was gifted in exchange for an honest review. I rate this book 5++ AMAZEBALLS stars!!!

I don't know how helpful this review is going to be, because I have so many thoughts swirling around my head about it, that I cannot even thik straight. Our heroine, Taralynn is in love with her brother's best friend's little brother, our hero, Shawn. But, Shawn isn't in love with Taralynn, or so she thinks. Turns out, he actually is in love with her, and has been since they were little kids, but just doesn't think he is good enough for her. But, there is zero reason for him to think that. He is an "amazing" tattoo artist, who at some point in the book buys out the owner of his current tattoo studio AND manages to buy his grandparents house that he lives in with Taralynn and two other roommates. He comes from a very good home life, and has good friends and a close family. She has repeatedly told him she wants him, but somehow that hasn't translated through his thick skull so he is your stereotypical alpha jack-hole, man whore, who treats taralynn like crap in an effort to convince her that he is no good for her.

Oh and our heroine, Taralynn, constantly throwing herself at a boy because she loves him She of course has body issues, doesn't realize how beautiful she is, has a mother who always puts her down and treats her like crap, a father who loves her, but doesn't stand up for her (and that's where a little twist comes in towards the end) and has a best friend, Matt who actually introduces her to a guy who slips her the date rape drug, but doesn't seem all that upset or apologetic about it when it happens.

None of the relationships seem particularly believable, genuine, or strong. And so much happens that feels unresolved. And the ending is so stupid, I almost thought maybe I skipped a few pages and missed something. I don't want to give spoilers, and it's hard to really delve into what makes this bad without doing so, but really, you won't feel like you're missing out if you skip this, and you will feel like perhaps you could have used the couple hours you used to read this doing something a bit more useful. There's no emotional connection to the characters and overall it just felt like a waste of time.

Michael Carroll, Ph.D. is a Chartered Counselling Psychologist. He is an accredited Executive Coach and an accredited Supervisor of Executive Coaches with APECS (Association for Professional Executive Coaches and Supervisors).

Michael is Visiting Industrial Professor in the Graduate School of Education, University of Bristol and the winner of the 2001 British Psychological Society Award for Distinguished Contributions to Professional Psychology.

Michael works with individuals, teams and organizations specializing in the theme of learning and wellbeing. He supervises, coaches and trains nationally and internationally and works within the private and public spheres. He runs the Centre for Supervision Training. He has trained in, written about and researched supervision for over 30 years, both supervising and being supervised. He has written, co-written and edited 10 book including the following Training Counselling Supervisors: Strategies, Methods, Techniques (Edited with Elizabeth Holloway, Sage:1999); Counselling Supervision in Context (Edited with Elizabeth Holloway: Sage: 1999), The Handbook of Counselling in Organisations (Edited with Michael Walton: Sage, 1997), Counselling Supervision: Theory, Skills and Practice (Sage, 1996); Workplace Counselling (Sage, 1996).

A Textbook that's Interesting

I got the Kindle "rented" version for 3 months - it's ridiculously priced to buy or to rent - obscene and they should be ashamed. That said - the book, while slow going, is absolutely fascinating. I would take this class again just to read the rest of the book that I missed!
It's updated fairly regularly every couple years it seems - I recommend it. Oh, and say goodbye to your money $ka-ching!$$

Please be advised that this version of the text does NOT have the same content as the US edition. The questions, while generally the same, differ slightly, as do the chapter introductions (which some questions are based off of). If you are looking for a cheap alternative to the US book and will be using it to answer questions in class, AVOID THIS VERSION.

Really enjoy the author, but this one didn't work for me.

I *loved* Start With Why. It's one of my favorite "business books. I also really enjoyed Leaders Eat Last. I get what Mr. Sinek is going for, here, but it didn't resonate with me. Maybe if I hadn't read his other books, this would be an interesting introduction to some of the themes he focuses on, but it didn't communicate the importance of those themes as clearly as his writing, and it felt oversimplified.

I'm still very much looking forward to what he does next, which is why I don't want to leave a lower review - but I'd highly recommend getting Start With Why over this, and once you read that, and Leaders Eat Last, this book doesn't really bring anything new to the table.

NOT A STORY - THIS IS A QUOTE BOOK

Disappointed - pretty much just pages of SS quotes that sort of go along with nice illustrations that could tell a story. THIS IS NOT AT ALL A FABLE OR A STORY- I was expecting a picture book (elementary school style) with a bit of a story, characters, plot that could be used with kids and staff- like a mentor Text- A metaphor of sorts, or examples we could connect to leadership- was hoping to use it with kids learning about leadership then have them connect the story with leadership quotes etc. This "story book" has NO story... the illustrations have the potential to tell a wonderful story with a true adventure plot structure - so I might just use the pics and have kids write the story... pretty disjointed, no good structure...

The Contract Negotiation Handbook: Software as a Service is written around a subscriber-favorable cloud license contract template, the "SaaS Agreement," included in the book as an appendix. The book prepares the reader to negotiate favorable contract terms and conditions with a cloud service provider's representative who sells cloud services on a daily basis and knows every negotiation ploy and tactic there is.

The book covers key contract provisions to mitigate risks specific to cloud computing and SaaS. Guth explains the financial and reputational risks, "Without robust service levels, you could suffer service performance issues that dramatically impact your business operations. Financial risks also include the ongoing viability of a service provider. Those risks, however, are not nearly as painful as responding to reporters' or government investigators' questions regarding deficiencies related to the privacy and security of your data. My book addresses all of those risks and more through clear contract language."

So far it's been very useful!

I recently received this book in Kindle & paperback version. My staff and I are using this book as a guide while we craft our first SaaS template as a Service Provider and also negotiate a couple of other SaaS agreement where we are the subscriber. I've not read the entire book yet but the sections I've read were very helpful. The method by which Mr. Guth dissects the various components of the template helps us to focus in on what we should doing (or not) and helps generate discussions of alternative methods or strategies. So far this book has been worth the investment.

Great understanding of the human elements that make negotiations so challenging

Guth dedicates a significant portion of his book to outlining common supplier tactics for manipulating or at least steering procurement people. Each tactic has a clever name, a definition and tips on how to react. Key to Guth's philosophy on managing suppliers is that less information is more, and that meetings should happen on the buyer's terms and turf. The tactics seem a little light at first passing, but it is hard to deny that from a human behavior perspective Guth has us all pegged in one category or another. It is easy to feel smug reading about the tactics that other people fall prey to, but once you recognize your own habits described in reaction to a tactic, you know it. Then you can focus on the reasons you've been doing what you're doing, what the consequences may be, and how to combat the tactic in the future. The book could use more in the way of third party references or substantiation - I happen to like quotes and additional reading lists, but that's me. Guth does say right up front that the book is a representation of his experiences, and he is true to that. The last section of the book is a very practical guide to common contract sections and how to negotiate them - confidentiality, terms v. conditions, limitation of liability. He is a lawyer after all. If you spend a portion of your time putting contracts in place, this is a worthwhile reference to have on hand.

About the Author
Bruce Graham is the author of the following plays: Burkie, Early One Evening at the Rainbow Bar & Grille, Minor Demons, Moon Over the Brewery, The Champagne Charlie Stakes, Belmont Avenue Social Club, Desperate Affection, Coyote on a Fence, and According to Goldman. Coyote on a Fence was the winner of the Rosenthal Prize and recently opened in London's West End starring Ben Cross. His one-man show, The Philly Fan, was recently revived for a third run. Two new plays, Dex and Julie Sittin' in a Tree (Arden Theatre) and Full Figured, Loves to Dance (Theatre Exile), opened this year. His feature film credits include Dunston Checks In, Anastasia, Steal This Movie, and his TV movie, Ring of Endless Light, won the Humanitas Award for Best Children's Teleplay. Graham has received grants from the Pew Foundation, the Rockefeller Foundation, and he was a recipient of the Princess Grace Foundation Statuette Award. He currently teaches playwriting and film courses at the University of Pennsylvania and Drexel University. Graham lives in Media, Pennsylvania, with his wife, Stephanie, and their daughter, Kendall.

Michele Volansky is Assistant Professor of Drama at Washington College and the dramaturg for the PlayPenn New Play Development Conference. She has worked on more than 150 plays, including the Broadway productions of Buried Child and One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest. She has worked with numerous theatrical groups, including Actors Theatre of Louisville, Steppenwolf Theatre Company, and the Philadelphia Theatre Company. In 1999 she won the inaugural Elliot Hayes Award for Dramaturgy and is also past President of the Literary Managers and Dramaturgs of the Americas. She is also a doctoral candidate at the University of Hull (England), writing about the critics Kenneth Tynan and Frank Rich.

Should be in your bookbag

The Collaborative Playwright is as close as you can get to actually sitting down with a seasoned playwright and dramaturg, two people who know the craft of theatrical storytelling inside and out, having a beer with them and just getting the inside scoop on how plays should be crafted and why. Like Gary Garrison's Perfect 10, this book gives the reader a sense of what kind of scriptwriting really works for a skeptical audience, a financially-strapped producer, and an overtaxed performance space.
That being said, in my opinion, this shouldn't be your very first playwriting book. The conversational tone has a jaded quality that would scare off first-time playwrights. The enthusiasm of a new playwright is much better served by a focusing agent like Jeffrey Sweet's The Dramatist's Toolkit. This books shows you, for example, not just how to make a scene a negotiation, but a compelling, meaningful negotiation. This book should be thought of as an advanced course, not a simple how-to guide.
If you've had several readings of plays that were successful and are trying to figure out how to tell your stories on paper well in conjunction with the many people that will get your story onstage, this book is a good friend. Of particular note is the section at the end of the book where playwrights at varying career levels are interviewed about how they make their storytelling process work well with possible directors, dramaturgs, producers and so on. If you've written several plays and are thinking, "Now what?" then get this book.

Good Advice From a Pro

This is a good book for a person wanting to write, for a play director, or for anyone with an interest in theater. Bruce Graham is an established playwright, and the book is filled with illustrative comments from Graham and co-author dramaturg Michele Volansky regarding both Graham's plays and classics from modern theater. Having directed one of Graham's plays, "The Champagne Charlie Stakes," for our community theater, I found his description of how he develops characters fascinating and informative, and his advice for development of a play useful for both someone wishing to write, for someone directing, of for someone who enjoys theater and would like to know more about how plays get written.
